The Science of LED Light Therapy

LED light therapy isn't new. It's been used in dermatology clinics and medical research for over 30 years. What has changed is how accessible it has become.

HOW IT WORKS
LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy delivers specific wavelengths of light energy into the skin. Unlike UV light, LED is non-thermal and non-invasive — it doesn't damage the skin. Instead, it activates natural biological processes within your skin cells.

Different wavelengths reach different depths in the skin and trigger different responses:

RED (620–700nm)
Penetrates the dermis to stimulate fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Clinical studies show consistent improvement in fine lines, skin firmness, and overall texture with regular use.

BLUE (415–445nm)
Targets Cutibacterium acnes — the bacteria responsible for breakouts — without antibiotics or hormonal intervention. Clinically proven to reduce active acne lesions.

GREEN (515–535nm)
Acts on melanin-producing cells to reduce hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. Also calms reactive and sensitised skin.

YELLOW (565–590nm)
Stimulates lymphatic drainage and circulation, reducing redness and producing visible brightness and luminosity. Particularly effective for rosacea-prone skin.

CYAN (490–520nm)
Reduces inflammation and accelerates cellular recovery. Ideal for sensitive skin or post-treatment use.

NEAR-INFRARED (850nm)
The deepest-penetrating wavelength — reaching the hypodermis to stimulate mitochondrial activity and accelerate structural collagen change. Available in the Orvelle ClinicalPro and Elite Pro.

IS IT SAFE?
All Orvelle devices use non-thermal, non-UV LED technology. No adverse reactions have been reported for any skin type. If you are taking photosensitising medication, consult your doctor before use.

The Orvelle ClinicalPro Mask carries FDA 510(K) clearance — the regulatory certification required of Class II medical devices in the United States.

OUR COMMITMENT TO STAYING CURRENT

The science of LED therapy is not a fixed body of knowledge. New research is published regularly. Device engineering improves. Our understanding of how specific wavelengths
interact with different tissue types continues to evolve.

We track all of it.

Every product in the Orvelle range was selected because the clinical evidence supports it — not because it photographs well, not because it carries a reassuring-sounding name,
and not because a marketing team decided it would sell.

When new research challenges our current understanding, we update. When a new device delivers meaningfully better outcomes than what we stock, we stock it. When the evidence changes, we change with it.

This is what it looks like when a company is run by people who care about the outcome rather than the optics.

If you ever want to discuss the research behind any of our products, email us at admin@orvelle.store. We enjoy that conversation more than most.
